Increasing Revenue from $10,000 to $450,000
in Just 6 Months
Client Organization
Give Kids A Smile, Inc.’s mission is to bring caring volunteers
and organizations together for the purpose of delivering quality
services to children. Their commitment is to the underserved, by
striving to mentor organizations and future volunteers to “help
kids smile.”
Unique Challenge
As a fairly new non-profit, the organization was operating solely
with volunteers, did not have any permanent space, and only had
about $10,000 in the bank to cover upcoming program expenses.
Client Objective
A local funder believed in the mission and passion of Give Kids
A Smile’s board and saw the potential for growth. The funder
hired Paradigm Shift Studio to help build capacity for the long-term
sustainability of the organization.
What We Did
Paradigm Shift Studio conducted a thorough assessment, planning
and development program, which:
- Assessed the agency’s programs;
- Created a fundraising development plan;
- Helped educate the executive board on non-profit policies and
procedures;
- Began researching and writing capacity-building and program
development grants;
- Assisted with two fundraisers (“Monte Carlo Night”
and a golf tournament);
- Created a corporate sponsorship program;
- Helped Give Kids A Smile launch its first-ever annual appeal.
Outcomes
As a result of the project, within six months, Give Kids a Smile had
secured over $450,000 in new revenue. It also:
- Hired its first Executive Director and Program Director;
- Secured permanent office space;
- Launched a new “Virtual Clinic” program, which matches
children with dental needs with volunteer dentists across the
region (thanks to the Daughters of Charity Healthcare Foundation);
- Created policies and procedures for organizational effectiveness;
- Created and mailed its first annual appeal.
